It’s time to get excited with only two weeks to go until the Gold Coast Marathon weekend!!
This year SRG has 111 members participating in events over the weekend including at least 12 kids from our SRG kids group and youth squad and as always it is guaranteed to be a fun filled couple of days.
If you are not competing this year we encourage you to come down and cheer on your fellow SRG runners, as it is an experience that you won’t forget and there is nothing that builds team spirit and brings people closer together than supporting the runners, whether they be seasoned competitors or back of the pack runners – it really needs to be seen to be believed.

The SRG Team photo will be taken the weekend before the event, here in Springfield. We hope to have as many of the team attend as we can. It’s always a great time being a part of the photo and we don’t want anyone missing out. Remember to wear your SRG shirts.
DATE: Sunday the 30th of June
TIME: 1:40 pm for a 2:00 pm photo
WHERE: Robelle Domain – Main Stage
Each event (kids, 5.7km, 10km, 21.1km and 42.2km) will also have a team photo – this will be taken at the race precinct at GCAM 1 hour before the event start time. Meeting at the SRG tent.
For each day there will be a food table provided at the SRG tent for participants and supporters to enjoy. We are relying on donations from SRG team members – if you are able to donate some food please contact Kate Digby via the Facebook page. The goodies should cater for everyone therefore it would be appreciative if there was some gluten free goodies to share.
This year as well as the official aid stations SRG will be providing support tables along the course. Ashleigh Spall will be manning the table at the 32km mark for the marathon. Please make sure whatever fuel you may need is placed in a large snap lock bag. Ash will have white stickers with her on the day that she will place on your bags for your name, bib number and estimated passing time to make this aid station as efficient as possible. You will find Ash under the SRG tent early on the Sunday morning to collect your bags. There will also be two other tables out on the course in the last 10kms of the marathon.
Kirsty Lacey is coordinating the two tables in the last 10kms – if you are able to help man these stations or be a support runner please let Kirsty know.
As well as the official event photographers – SRG will also have our own photographers scattered out along the course so be sure to keep an eye out for them. Our photographers are SRG members who have volunteered to do this for us and for that we are very grateful. If you are interested in being a photographer on the day please let Maria Stewart know.
POST EVENT CELEBRATIONS
This year there will be two post event celebrations. The first one will be held at the Gold Coast on Sunday night for anyone who is able to attend. We understand that not all can make this dinner, but never fear, there is a big BBQ planned for later in the month so no one will miss out on celebrating.
If you are wanting to join us for the dinner could you please let Elaine Watling know by Friday the 28th June (or via the event on the SRG page) – this is a family friendly event so don’t forget to include your kids, so we can give them an idea on numbers. All participants and supporters are welcome.
